E Komo Mai! (Welcome!)

Race

Nā Koa Kai Canoe Club has partnered with USA Outrigger as a “regional Development Team” to help perpetuate Hawaiian outrigger canoe racing and elevate it to an Olympic Sport while still maintaining the very important cultural roots of the sport’s origins.  Nā Koa Kai Canoe Club will, of course, continue to hosts sprint races at our events under Nā Koa Kai Canoe Club’s new youth development race association Kaliponi Keiki Outrigger Association™ (KKOA).  The Kaliponi Keiki Outrigger Association™  welcomes any and all youth teams (ages 8-18) from any sanctioned race organization.

On August 2nd, 2015 Nā Koa Kai Canoe Club hosted the opening ceremony for the 2015 USA OUTRIGGER SPRINT NATIONALS at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.  Participants at this event had the potential of being selected for the very first USA National Team.

Each April since 2012, Nā Koa Kai Canoe Club hosts the Annual Keiki Heihei Wa’a and the “Stand UP For the Kids Stand Up Paddle Race™”. This incredible event takes place on beautiful San Diego Mission Bay as part of the San Diego Shaka Fest™!
